Your Day, Hour by Hour

  1. 8:00AM

Pickup from your hotel or the airport

Your driver and licensed guide collect you at 8:00 AM from your hotel anywhere in Delhi/NCR, or from Indira Gandhi International Airport if you are arriving that morning. Luggage can stay in the car for the day.

  2. 8:45AM

    Qutub Minar

Begin at the 73-metre victory tower of Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the tallest brick minaret in the world, built in 1193. The surrounding complex holds the Iron Pillar, which has resisted rust for over 1,600 years.

  3. 10:00AM

    Lotus Temple

Continue to the Bahá'í House of Worship, known as the Lotus Temple for its twenty-seven marble petals. Open to people of every faith, its vast silent prayer hall is one of the most visited buildings on earth.

  4. 11:00AM

    Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhavan

Drive along Kartavya Path through the heart of imperial New Delhi, past the circular colonnade of Sansad Bhavan (Parliament House) and the vast Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's residence, designed by Edwin Lutyens with 340 rooms.

  5. 11:45AM

    India Gate

Stop at the 42-metre arch commemorating the 90,000 Indian soldiers who died in the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War, with the Amar Jawan Jyoti burning beneath it.

  6. 12:15PM

    Raj Ghat — Gandhi Memorial

Visit the simple black marble platform marking the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated in 1948, set in quiet lawns with an eternal flame at one end.

  7. 1:00PM

    Lunch

A relaxed lunch break at a quality restaurant before crossing into Old Delhi for the afternoon.

  8. 2:00PM

    Humayun's Tomb

Explore the first great Mughal garden tomb, built in 1570 for Emperor Humayun by his widow. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was the direct architectural model for the Taj Mahal, built sixty years later.

  9. 3:15PM

    Red Fort

Take in the vast red sandstone fortress-palace of Shah Jahan, the seat of Mughal power for nearly 200 years and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. India's Prime Minister addresses the nation from its ramparts every Independence Day.

  10. 4:15PM

    Jama Masjid

Visit India's largest mosque, completed in 1656, whose courtyard holds 25,000 worshippers. Its red sandstone and white marble façade looks out over the rooftops of the old city.

  11. 5:00PM

Chandni Chowk with a rickshaw ride

Ride a cycle rickshaw through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, Shah Jahan's great bazaar laid out in 1650 — past the spice market at Khari Baoli, the silver merchants, the wedding bazaar and the street food stalls.

  12. 6:00PM

    Agrasen ki Baoli

Finish at the 14th-century step well hidden among the high-rises of Connaught Place — 108 stone steps descending into the ground, and one of the most atmospheric spots in the city at dusk.

  13. 6:45PM
